Radio MIXX: A successful example of increasing cybersecurity with the support of DIGIHUB
Introduction
Small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria are increasingly dependent on digital technologies, but often lack sufficient capacity to protect their systems from growing cyber threats. To support this process, DIGIHUB is organizing a series of trainings under the program for 100% financing of cybersecurity in SMEs, part of the national initiative to improve the digital resilience of businesses.
One of the participants in the second training, held on August 5, 2025 at Tria Space - Central Park, Burgas, was "Glarus" OOD - a company that took advantage of the opportunity not only to improve its protection, but also to receive real financial support from the state.
The challenge
Before participating in the DIGIHUB training, Glarus Ltd. was faced with typical difficulties for small businesses:
- lack of internal expert resources in information security,
- limited budget for implementing security solutions,
- uncertainty regarding the procedures for applying for European and national programs.
The company's management was looking for a practical approach - how to increase its cyber resilience without becoming excessively administrative or financial burden.
Solution
DIGIHUB provided integrated support through its "100% Financing for Cybersecurity in SMEs" training. The event combined theory and practice in two modules:
- Morning module: introduction to modern cyber threats, incident management, phishing attacks, vulnerabilities and risk assessment methods;
- Afternoon module: practical workshop, including a basic audit of the security situation, completing project documentation, preparing a budget and consulting with experts.
The DIGIHUB team provided individual support to the participants after the end of the training - including a review of documentation, guidelines for preparing project proposals and preparation for application.
Implementation
Within the framework of the training and subsequent consultations, Glarus Ltd. took consistent actions to improve its cybersecurity.
The company conducted an internal analysis of the current state of its IT systems, identified key vulnerabilities and determined priority measures for their elimination.
With the support of DIGIHUB experts, the Glarus team prepared and submitted a project proposal under the Procedure for providing financial support for improving cybersecurity in SMEs.
DIGIHUB's assistance ensured full compliance with the administrative and technical requirements of the program, which significantly facilitated the process and increased the chances of success.
Results
On October 3, 2025, the company received an official invitation from the Ministry of e-Government to submit evidence of eligibility and conclude a state aid contract.
This result confirmed the quality of the prepared project proposal and became clear evidence of the effectiveness of the process in which DIGIHUB provided expert support from start to finish.
“Glarus” OOD became one of the first real examples of how DIGIHUB’s training and individual consultations can lead to concrete, measurable success - both in terms of cyber resilience and in financial terms through secured state funding.
Impact
The implementation of the project led to a qualitative change in the work of the team and the security of the media product. Maria Dimitrova, manager of Glarus OOD, shares her experience from the process:
“We are extremely grateful for such close-knit activities, care and consulting assistance. The DIGIHUB model is of exceptional help both in terms of training and in navigating the implementation of the project. Small businesses do not have the human and financial resources to carry out the digital transformation themselves, and this is invaluable help for them.”
After implementing the new measures, the media now feels prepared for modern challenges:
“As a media outlet, we are grateful that with the 'Cybersecurity' project we have upgraded the infrastructure and knowledge of the response team in 'the new normal – the reality of hybrid attacks', which we scale in efficiency and share with our audience. We find our work with DIGIHUB to be an extremely successful process, improving the team's work on a daily basis. "
Conclusion
The history of Glarus Ltd. shows that targeted support and expert guidance can turn the cybersecurity challenge into a strategic advantage.
DIGIHUB continues to develop its training and consulting program aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises that want to increase their digital resilience and take advantage of 100% financing opportunities.
