A high-level meeting took place today in Burgas, bringing together key representatives from leading Bulgarian telecommunications company Vivacom, Burgas Municipality, and the Southeast Digital Innovation Hub (DIGIHUB). The main focus of the discussions revolved around the development of 5G infrastructure in Burgas and fostering technological advancements for the city.
In attendance were Mr. Nikolai Andreev, CEO of Vivacom, Mr. Nikola Gechev, Corporate Sales Director at Vivacom, Ms. Vesna Baltina, Deputy Mayor for Strategic Development and Ecology, Digitalization, and Climate Changes Adaptation at Burgas Municipality, and the management board of the Southeast Digital Innovation Hub.
The meeting aimed to strengthen the collaborative efforts between the organizations and explore opportunities for joint work on 5G-related projects in Burgas. This collaboration is expected to enhance digital connectivity in the region, which will in turn stimulate economic growth and innovation.
During the meeting, the representatives from DIGIHUB introduced The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) to Vivacom’s executives. The EEN offers a wide range of support services and opportunities for large companies like Vivacom, including access to international markets, funding, and expert advice on innovation and growth strategies.
Vivacom has expressed interest in the Smart City laboratory currently under construction at DIGIHUB. The laboratory will serve as an innovative platform for testing and implementing advanced digital solutions and technologies that will contribute to the creation of a sustainable and efficient urban environment in Burgas.
To solidify the collaboration, all parties are in the process of preparing a memorandum that will outline the commitments and strategic cooperation between the organizations in various technological projects. This partnership signifies a major step forward in the development of Burgas as a regional leader in digital innovation, with a strong focus on sustainability, smart infrastructure, and connectivity.
