On September 12-13, 2024, DIGIHUB proudly hosted the METACITIES project consortium meeting at our headquarters in the Central Park office complex, Burgas. The event gathered key representatives from leading institutions and organizations across Europe, contributing to the vision of smart, interconnected cities through advanced digital technologies.
The METACITIES project, funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement No. 101087257, is aimed at creating innovative solutions to address the digital transformation of cities. Over the two-day meeting, discussions focused on key project milestones, including work package presentations, deliverable updates, and collaborative planning sessions.
Attendees represented a wide range of expertise, including universities, technology companies, and municipalities from Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria. Part in the event took Mrs. Ina Agafonova, a member of DIGIHUB’s board, and Mr. Petko Georgiev, our Chairman of the Board, who engaged with the partners. Mr. Georgiev extended a warm welcome to the consortium and shared insights about DIGIHUB’s contributions to fostering innovation in the region.
Our Central Park office provided the perfect backdrop for this collaborative event, offering a dynamic and modern space that reflects our commitment to supporting the digital economy. Throughout the meeting, participants explored various aspects of METACITIES’ mission, including urban innovation strategies, digital twin technologies, and IoT applications for improving city infrastructures.
The first day of the meeting opened with a welcoming session, followed by work package presentations led by the University of Patras, CYENS Center of Excellence, and the Hellenic American Education Center, among others. On the second day, attendees delved into further technical discussions and laid out plans for the next phases of the project, concluding with a wrap-up session led by the project coordinators.
As a one-stop-shop for digital innovation, DIGIHUB is proud to play a central role in METACITIES. We are committed to supporting cities in their digital transformation journey, ensuring that the Southeast region remains at the forefront of technological progress.
